In today’s beauty market, the term “clean” is everywhere—but what does it really mean? With so many products claiming to be natural, non-toxic, or eco-friendly, it’s no wonder consumers are asking harder questions. For us, the real question isn’t just what’s in your skincare—it’s what’s not.
RIMAN believes transparency is the foundation of trust. That’s why RIMAN has committed to one of the most comprehensive ingredient standards in the skincare industry. Our products are formulated without over 3,000 harmful or questionable ingredients—not just because regulations say so, but because we hold ourselves to a higher standard.
This isn't a marketing angle. It's a promise.
Here’s exactly what we’ve chosen to leave out—and why.
1. We Follow the Strictest Global Cosmetic Regulations
Many brands follow the rules of the countries where they sell—but regulations vary widely from region to region. An ingredient banned in Europe may still be legal in the U.S. or Asia. That inconsistency can leave customers confused—and unprotected.
So, RIMAN decided to raise the bar.
RIMAN voluntarily aligns our formulations with the strictest cosmetic safety standards from around the world, including:
-
United States (FDA)
-
Canada
-
European Union (EU Commission)
-
ASEAN nations
-
South Korea
-
Japan
-
China
-
Taiwan
-
Hong Kong
By formulating to meet the most stringent global regulations—not just the minimum—we create products that are safe, effective, and trusted no matter where you're using them.
Our goal is simple: to protect your skin and your health with every ingredient we choose—and every one we don’t.
2. We Ban Chemicals Flagged by Environmental & Health Authorities
Clean beauty goes beyond banned lists. Some ingredients may still be legal, but are already under review for serious health or environmental concerns. That’s why we proactively exclude any ingredients listed under the EU Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), which highlights substances linked to long-term risks.
Here are the main chemical categories we completely avoid:
• CMRs – Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, or Reproductive Toxins
We don’t use any ingredients known to cause cancer, induce genetic mutations, or interfere with reproductive health. Even small amounts of CMRs are a risk we’re not willing to take.
• PBTs – Persistent, Bioaccumulative, and Toxic Substances
These substances don’t break down easily, build up in the body and the environment, and can cause long-term damage. We eliminate them at the source.
• vPvBs – Very Persistent and Very Bioaccumulative Substances
Even more dangerous than PBTs, these chemicals accumulate rapidly in ecosystems and the food chain. Banning them supports both your health and the planet’s.
• Endocrine Disruptors
These compounds interfere with hormone function and have been linked to developmental, reproductive, and neurological problems. We believe hormonal balance is essential to whole-body health—including the health of your skin.
By excluding these groups entirely, we don’t just keep up with science—we stay ahead of it. You won’t find “gray area” ingredients in our products. Just safety, clarity, and peace of mind.
3. Our Own "Never List": The Ingredients We Refuse to Use
In addition to following global bans and scientific guidelines, we’ve created our own internal “Never List”—a group of ingredients that we don’t believe belong anywhere near your skin.
Here’s what we’ve completely removed from our formulas:
Sulfates (as surfactants)
-
Why we banned them: Sulfates like SLS and SLES are harsh detergents that strip your skin’s natural oils and compromise its barrier, leading to dryness and irritation.
-
What we use instead: We use mild, plant-derived cleansing agents that effectively remove impurities while respecting your skin’s natural moisture.
Parabens
-
Why we banned them: These synthetic preservatives can mimic estrogen and disrupt hormone function. While still legal in some markets, we see the long-term risk.
-
What we use instead: We formulate with safer, non-toxic preservatives that keep your products fresh and stable without compromising your health.
Formaldehyde & Formaldehyde Releasers
-
Why we banned them: Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen. Many cosmetic preservatives release trace amounts of it over time, including:
-
2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol
-
5-bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane
-
Diazolidinyl urea
-
DMDM hydantoin
-
Imidazolidinyl urea
-
Quaternium-15
-
Sodium hydroxymethylglycinate
-
Methenamine
-
-
Our stance: We don’t use them—period.
Benzalkonium Chloride
-
Why we banned it: Often used in antimicrobial formulations, this ingredient can trigger skin irritation and allergic reactions—especially in sensitive skin.
Triclosan & Triclocarban
-
Why we banned them: These were once common in antibacterial soaps but are now linked to hormone disruption and antibiotic resistance. They’re also toxic to marine ecosystems.
Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI) & Methylisothiazolinone (MI)
-
Why we banned them: These preservatives are highly allergenic and a leading cause of contact dermatitis. Even small traces can trigger sensitivity.
Phthalates
-
Why we banned them: Commonly used in synthetic fragrances and plasticizers, phthalates are known endocrine disruptors that have been linked to reproductive issues.
-
Our solution: We never use synthetic fragrances or hidden fragrance components that could contain phthalates. Every scent is transparent and safe.
Plastic Microbeads
-
Why we banned them: These small plastic particles are a major environmental pollutant, often ending up in oceans and harming marine life.
-
What we use instead: Our exfoliants feature biodegradable, natural alternatives like enzymes, cellulose, and fine botanical powders.
Why What’s Not Inside Matters
Choosing what not to include in a product is just as important as choosing what goes in. RIMAN's banned ingredient list isn’t just about compliance—it’s about care. We believe clean beauty should be grounded in science, responsibility, and intention—not just marketing language.
By removing harmful, irritating, or questionable ingredients, we protect more than just your skin. We’re helping to preserve hormonal balance, reduce allergic reactions, and minimize environmental impact—all without compromising performance.
Our Incellderm ICD line reflects that mission. Every product is made with thoughtful precision, using only ingredients we’d be proud to put on our own skin—and yours.
